GWF/World Tennis Raises Funds for Manta, Ecuador Project

The International Tennis Group makes a difference during the ATP Naples Challenger

International Tennis Group's ATP Challenger is underway and bringing a lot of fanfare and opportunities besides world class tennis. The opening day of the qualifying matches was concluded with a fundraising dinner bringing together ITG, The Global Water Foundation and The Rotary Club of Naples to raise money for a water project for an impoverished area in Manta, Ecuador.
.The ATP Naples Challenger has been the impetus to bring attention to this project. ITG Tournament Director Fabricio Valdivieso, who also organizes an ATP Challenger event in Manta, and has helped to bring together the Global Water Foundation with founder and two-time Australian open champion Johan Kriek and The Rotary Club of Naples to undertake efforts to make a difference in the lives of thousands of Ecuadorian people. The Rotary Club of Naples is working on a Matching Grant through the Rotary Foundation. The evening featured a Silent and Live Auction and an inspiring appearance by the Mayor of Manta Jorge Zambrano.
The ATP Naples Challenger high level Main Draw gets under way today Monday, April 30th . Gates open at 1 PM free of charge to all Effective Services Personnel who can simply show their identification cards to gain admission. Several "at risk" children's groups will be in attendance as well. One of the groups, New Horizons-which provides an after-school tutoring program for "at risk" youngsters will be performing on Stadium Court at 7 PM. General Admission through Friday, May 4th is $10.
